Troop Report- Jabba's Comedy Hutt- Melbourne Comedy Festival 16th & 17th April 2010

Mission: A local comedy outfit, The Hounds, were performing for two nights only and requested the presence of members of the local 501st Knightfall squad to provide entertainment and security for this rather late gig in one of the seediest areas of inner Melbourne.

Location: Indoor- The Trades Hall in Carlton. The meeting room had been converted into Jabba's main audience chamber and would serve as a platform to either catapult careers in comedy or plunge them into the gloomy depths to become tomorrow's rancor dung!
The troopers of Knightfall arrived in their various discreet forms of transportation and proceeded to armour up, at 10pm, in a secret location within the labyrinthine building. The proposed start time of 11pm meant that troopers had approx. 30minutes of can-shaking before the patrons would be safely herded into the auditorium. The can shaking proved to be a simple distraction for the patrons, who were very relaxed and parted with their credits for photos etc. with abandon. Troopers took point at several locations within the main foyer to meet and greet and make their presence known to any potential rebel sympathizers.
The Friday event began approx. 30 minutes behind schedule and ran almost an hour over-schedule.
The Saturday night show ran according to schedule. Each show ran for approximately 90 minutes with many acts performing both nights while some only managed one performance before being shown the trapdoor in the floor.
Outstanding acts were the 'Death-Defying Jawa Brothers', comedy Kashyyk-style, as told by one of Kashyyk's leading comedians, 'the last 30 second of Alderaan' series and the 'Tusken raider Improv. troupe'.
