Hello and welcome E :)
I recommend doing some realy through research on us and what we do before getting too excited (which is easy to do!)
That costume certainly is beautiful, Viqi Shesh actually Looks like you if your avatar is anything to go by!
Doing reinactment does sound a bit like a Medieval Costuming group, Condottieri is a great group and there are no age requirements, so your brother can join in too (http://www.condottieri.com.au/). Their costumes are often the most elaborate, Lion Rampant (another group Im familiar with) often refer to them as the Painted Peacocks of the reinactment groups.
Few people are familiar with the expanded universe characters, so be prepared to finish your stunning costume and have people ask "who are you?"
Best of luck!

I think the whole brother thing wanting to be princess leia is a little wrong. he's 11, why would a 11 year old boy want to dress as leia? don't make no sense. random.

Efstathia you said you now want to stick with the viqi shesh. Maybe start a thread about that and some of our troopers more well learned about that particular characters outfit/armour can help you out :)
There's some one always to help out around here!

Hi. You're in the right place for building the most amazing costumes! If you want to make obscure costumes, and wear them,.. go ahead! [I've got 2 realitively obscure costumes] The advice given was also true, people won't know who you are necessarily, though if your costume looks really good.. people will still want pics with you. We do really work on going for costumes that are as accurate as the reference material allows. This, I dare say, takes lots of effort, time and.. well often a fair amout of cash, depending on your skills. The effort, time and energy you put into costume, will leave you with a costume that you're very proud of in the end and that's part of the fun of costume making!
As well as what has already been offered...
Would i be aloud in if my costume isnt good enough?
- Here in the 501sts' we pride ourselves on the accuracy and standard of our costumes. Most of us, even keep improving our costumes after they get approval. There's a whole bunch of information on most costumes. In the excitement of staring a costume, it's a little tricky to know 'which' costume that meets your skills [because all of them require some assembly] and your budget. So, as you do the research, working out how you're going to do various parts, and then starting some of them, you'll begin to enjoy how good your costume can become. The question will then be .. is my costume good enough for me :) Give it time, you'll start to see how great you can actually make something. The costume you have selected looks beautiful and seems to have a lot of intricate details and possibly hard to find fabrics and then there's patterns to find [or a seamstress] to put it together. Often what we call 'soft' costumes [ie. not armour] are quite challenging to get right.. I would call this costume from the first look, to be quite a challenge! Sometimes, building an easier one to begin with will allow your enthuiasm for that challenging one to last :) Boba Fett's doable.. as is this one.. both would probably take at least many months to complete.
Here's a couple of useful links you might want to check out..
1. HERE - A great few pages on various costumes
2. and HERE - Some local views on various costumes
Can me and my brother reenact a war scene at the convention?
As well as what's been covered.. you might not realise that we do ALOT of other 'Troops' besides conventions. Today, I was walking in the Australia Day Parade in Melbourne and there were TONS of kids all about. We certainly 'acted' true to the character.. our two Jawa's were pesky, stealing my blaster.. comlink.. and many a Jedi's light sabres... etc, but we play 'nice' as there's lots and lots of kids about. We can be scary enough as it is, and we want to be approachable and nice. That's one of the main reasons we don't do those sorts of things, we dont want to be scaring the kids!
Can my mum come along and take pictures?
If it's open to the public of course! We even have what we call 'wranglers' which are people not in costume who help us out if we have costume malfunctions and/or to keep order with excited kids/teens. So, even if it's not open to the public, if she offers her services as a 'wrangler' [helper] then she'll be able to come along.
Do we have to give you guys money to be apart of this?
Na of course not.. we're doing this for the fun of it, and often for charity, as we're often given donations by those who invite us.

PS. Smashcrab is our resident prankster.. watch out for his .. err.. wit

If you are serious about doing a Viqi Shesh take a look at the forums on www.theflagshipeclipse.com that will tell you the requirements you need to have a Viqi Shesh costume that can be approved in the 501st. As Tirilia says it's not a mainstream character so you won't be recognized most of the time at events (and often called Queen Armidala - I've copped that one and last I looked Darth Traya looks nothing like Armidala....)
There is a fair amount of work involved in getting an approvable costume together but well worth it in the end
