yes folks me and the 'Minister for Finances, Resources and Entertainment' have decide to bbuild a 1:1 scale model....i hear the faint sound of crashing troopers charging up Mt Disapoinment...lol
its come down to this i get the cash from the house equity if i build her a C3PO cosy..i priced all her bits incl vacume metalizing should be about $3500
which leaves me huge $ to build a 1:1 scale model..yes i have signed onto some forums..and have some copies of the orig plans for the 1:1 falcon and Xwing also have some info on a 1:1 TIE and ATAT (<-this ones a pipe dream i think..lol)
so i have the budget, a 6-9yr plan, and a tribe of 5 kids as slaves (chuckle!!!)
so to all those with construction knowledge (ie civy Engineers, sparkies, welders and fitter turn/boiler makers, plumbers and the like) all will be invited for a beer based brain storm in late FEB at 'the shed'..
im excited !!!!
updates will be slow and far between but boy what a journey we have began..challenges gallor and fun for all not to mention a killer model...lol

But yeah between the X-wing and Falcon, seriously GO THE FALCON, more room inside. You could have armour parties inside :P and other Parties if you make it stable enough - That sounds kinda suss and not what I meant. Too bad about AT-AT, especially if it was made functional :P.

That X wing is hot and sexy....
Tie Fighter/X-wing.. transportable.. ie. you can show it off :)
Falcon.. Multiple uses, shed/storage/smuggling.. stays grounded, not like you could fold it up. I imagine it as a big 'set' really. A small note from the series of firefly [IMHO The best Sci-fi series out there!],.. they built a full sized set for the ship.. was that the crew mentioned how homely it felt and how just hanging out in it was normal.

and i have a 14mtr by 6 mtr shed so plenty of room for whatever i need..lol (but i could do with a bigger one...lol  )
might try my hand at the x-wing/tie fighter/snow speeder and speeder bike combo first (hold the frys and small coke please lottsa ice  )
so id say Tie fighter first built on a stand on wheels for a chrissy parade pos lol next year and a pair of speeder bikes as well..??? not sure yet see hoew the budget goes and the availability of the 'work' drawing 3D computer dood.. :)
so its of to thomas town and hoppers cross for cheap as chips parts and building materials

How would you make the moulds? I think for a one off project, you'd be better just having a frame and wrapping it in waterproof plywood. I really believe this is rather doable. I'm already imagining the framework, used plastic barrels for the thrusters... hang on, this is 'REBEL' transport.. -smirks-

The police impound in Cedar Grove, FL is home to the life-sized
landspeeder you see above. Built as a promotional vehicle for Coca-Cola
in the early 1980s (it was given the moniker "Coke One"), this speeder
was actually a runner, with a VW chassis and engine under its skin.

what an awsome concept
yes may need to dig up some blue prints...
i am a leaning heavily in the direction of twin speeder bikes on the front of an old horse float (6Xhorse) plus the top half of a wrecked tie at the back with some diarama stuff in between and pos use the 'vw landspeeder to tow it????
it would give Hammer and some boys a ride and we could get a shell shocked tie pilot a ride as well and the rebels could ride up front??? (give us some static targets..lol
or the pod crashed into the desert infront of a dewback and a bit of the JAWA sandcrawler...
with a future mill falc club room?? (depends if i get this 125 achres im after)
or a life size ATAT but crashed to ground (like the one cable tied in TESB)

Daniel Deutsch in his own garage:
We built this fiberglass replica landspeeder last
spring from the ground up on a custom aluminum chassis. The electric
drive system is capable of a top speed around 25 mph. The speeder is
the same size as the original, and can travel several miles on a single
battery charge. We then did the bodywork, chassis, and electronics.
The side grills were waterjet cut from PVC, then spaced and stacked.

The entire speeder was built in six weeks, and was first revealed
in Los Angeles at the Star Wars Celebration IV event (30th anniv.) in
May 2007.
