WO! That Y-Wing is sweet! Did you use the decals on the engines or did you paint on the blue? There are options for 3 different ships' markings in the kit.

Thanks mate. :) Your models are sweet too.
For the engines and cockpit, I used some of the decals and added a few scratched paint blobs here and there.
Most of the weathering on the Y-Wing was done with washes (thinned down paint) and pastel chalks due to the small size of the kit and the amazing amount of detail.
I always use decal softener to bed the decals down into the panel joins and finish with a coat of rattle-can Testors dull-cote. When that is dry, I lightly airbrush a basecoat mist over the decals to 'dull down' the brightness of the colours and then go at it again with soot and dust streaks...
To me, a banged up, dusty, rusty old ship with bright clean decals just looks wrong.
It's kinda tough sometimes to know when to stop with the weathering as the 'less is more' rule doesn't always apply when you are talking rebel ships.

Well, here I am again. I have just returned from my first armour party and it so refreshing to learn that there are alot of model enthusiasts out there. I can't wait to see what others are up to.
the only things I have left to post at the moment are- my unfinished FM x-wing & y-wing in 1/72 scale. Also I have featured one of my favourite models- the Alien from Alien 3. I am really happy with the finish- a bit of a fluke experimenting with applications of wash on the shoulders which turned out to my satisfaction. I built this in 1993 and it is still my favourite of the Alien creatures.http://i621.photobucket.com/albums/tt294/22hamish/AlienfromAlien3copy.jpg">http://i621.photobucket.com/albums/tt294/22hamish/100_0769copy.jpg">http://i621.photobucket.com/albums/tt294/22hamish/100_0770copy.jpg">

2x Koto High End Master Model Zoids

Hey there, mister.
Can't wait to see that ship finished. B)
Upon returning home,I dug up the miniature of the republic diplomatic corellian ship from episode 1 but it is a slightly larger scale and too big to fit into the main docking bay. I was thinking that I could recreate the scene from the Clone Wars episode where they had to evacuate Ayla Secura's command ship while still in the upper atmosphere. Can't have incompatibly- scaled ships flying about together! :(

Hello again. I have chosen to show my Republic Jedi Interceptor with Hyperdrive ring by FM. This kit has driven me nuts with all of the decals! It would be even worse to try & paint it! Suffice to say that I put it on hold for a while until I find more inspiration....Also featured is my FM YT 1300 freighter. I forget the name of it.... millimetre hawk ? Millipede Phantom? or something like that :o ..... Anyway- it was the one piloted by that big monkey thingy and that smarmy guy who got the girl in the end  Both are 1/72 scale.http://i621.photobucket.com/albums/tt294/22hamish/100_1144.jpg">http://i621.photobucket.com/albums/tt294/22hamish/100_1147.jpg">

Ah, the good old Jedi Interceptor.
The first FM kit I ever bought which arrived with the X-Wing from HLJ.
I glued, puttied, sanded, glued, puttied - you know where this is going...
I don't know if it was the subject matter (who am I kidding?), but it just never 'grabbed' me.
As a result, it's now proudly part of the FM Falcon's cockpit as well as a busted panel on the Pro-Shop X-wing.

Nice work on the Falcon Sean. I had to do something with the kit issue sensor dish though - it just looked way too small.
As a result, I've made about a week's worth of work for myself. Such is life... :(

Adam, you ought to be proud of your progress - it's coming along very well mate. That colour looks spot on and the Shuttle is great too. Well done.

Cheers,

b

Maybe I should say whats on the repair bench,
after trying to move house rather rapidly (always a bad idea) I surveyed the carnage,
Falcon, plate underside fell in ages ago, repairs - replace the radar dish and underside quad lasers
Scout speeder, front vanes handgrips footbars and laser and reseat rider
ATAT Repair legs
ATST Leg
XWing find 3 missing lasers
ESB Luke Speeder Canopy and moving airfoils on rear
Various cracks and bumps on almost everything else
Vaders Tie, faired worst lost outer wings
At least now once repaired I can finally display all these and theres another box somewhere :(

Hamish, I was!
Doug, no matter the cat nicked off with it!

I was toying with the idea of getting some of that EL glow wire and putting it in the back of the falcon so it glows blue for effect but lost the webpage for it, you could get a kit for around 20 bucks somewhere

sadly i left a few of my models back in brisbane when i moved :( i did make the same pod racer as Hamish and spent quite some time on it then my ex 1 night decided to throw it against a wall and smashed it into 1000 pieces..... kinda put me off model making. But i have aquired an ERTL x-wing return of the jedi era which i will get onto at some stage as well as a couple of other non star wars (1 robotech model and a 90's batmobile)
winter in adelaide is usually good model making weather :)

Crikey!
Slow down there, Adam. You're making the rest of us look bad! :)
I did get the Falcon out of the box yesterday and did some repairs and general detailing - it's just such an overwhelming thing to work on.
Slow & steady...
