The purpose of this thread is for troopers to share which kits they currently have in progress.
Ideally, it's for SW kits, but other subjects are welcome too...

Right now I am (or should be) working on;

Fine Molds Millennium Falcon - 90% parts assembled, primed in flat black.
AMT/ERTL Shuttle Tydirium - Mostly assembled, unprimed.
Fine Molds X-Wing - mostly assembled and painted.

Cheers,

b

ive certain tiled parts already out of mould, as well as the kits.... just need a suitable ceiling to fix it all to - and the services of a decent lighting/electronics hobyist..

I'll take some pics tomorrow, Adam and put them up here. :)
If you're going to get the Y-Wing, you might also want to invest in some modelling tweezers.
They cost around $7 from hobby shops but they are invaluable for some piping on the Y-Wing - some of which are no longer than about 12mm - and they are the big ones! :)

Cheers,

Here are but a few of my projects. Some are completed and some are.....nearly so. This is a star destroyer that I tried to detail way back in 1985 with very limited reference material to go by. After I scored 'the art of ' books from the original trilogy and saw photos of the nebulon frigate I decided to battle-damage my SD and scratch- build my frigate to scale. I am very happy with the frigate considering that it has survived for 23 years with the front and rear guns still intact(if you can still see them in this photo). The other photo is of an AT-ST that I built & modified in 1985. I repainted(not to my satisfaction) in 1997 and mounted it on an 'Endor' base with plaque. It got broken during our house renovation last year and is waiting for restoration. I have 2 more unbuilt AT-ST kits which correspond(roughly 1/48 scale) to the Revell AT-AT (roughly 1/50 scale). Which also roughly corresponfd with the newly- released revell mini-kit of the snowspeeder(roughly 1/50 scale!!)http://i621.photobucket.com/albums/tt294/22hamish/000_0179copy.jpg">http://i621.photobucket.com/albums/tt294/22hamish/000_0180copy.jpg">

Here is my yet-to-be-completed diorama I am planning to title-'a thousand terrible things'. The transports are from the great little series AMT brought out. the left one is modified with front cannons and paint/ weathering while the right one waits for the same treatment. I scatch-built the tank before I owned any decent reference photos for shape & scale. The base/chassis should be broader. I was made glaringly aware of this when I finally scored the 1.32 scale tank- what a beautiful kit it is(to build and in it's shear size!). AMT would have done great things with the SW saga kits if they'd kept the license! :o They were the first manufacturer to comit to giving a conventional scale to their kits. ;) http://i621.photobucket.com/albums/tt294/22hamish/000_0177copy.jpg">http://i621.photobucket.com/albums/tt294/22hamish/000_0181copy.jpg">

Well, I did warn you that I would hog this thread if no-one else made any solid pictorial contributions!Firstly is the 'space jockey' vinyl model from Alien. This is all acrylic brush- painted. The tripod is from and old 1/35 scale german infantry machine gun stand.
Second is a brilliant vinyl predator kit I picked up years ago at Forbidden Planet II in London. I am spewing as they are discontinued and there was a huge range of fantastic Predator and Alien kits at the time( year-2000)! The Predator is 1/7 scale and the alien head is 1/9 scale. i had a spare head to add a bit of spice to a display. This was inspired by the graphic novels as the AVP films were not even rumoured then.
My vinyl Rancor is very dramatic, but I did not know about filling large vinyl models with plaster at the time, so he distorts in the heat. I have yet to make a dungeon backdrop for him to eat his meal in peace.
The final photo is to demonstrate the difference in size between the original MPC AT-AT and the REVELL kit. The scale of the new kit is approx 1/50. It is clumsy but it is begging for a bit of detailing and weathering. The new REVELL mini- kit snowspeeder is a perfect scale for it!

This is the AMT 1/32 scale Anakin's podracer. I overdid the exposed metal/weathering on the tips of the steering veins, but I am happy with the overall effect. It is really rickety on the display stand. I've had to secure the cables with fine wire to each component otherwise it all collapses into a heap  The one fantastic thing about Scifi modelling that Star Wars really intoroduced was the 'lived in' look. The best part about building these models is weathering them. The dirtier the better! I am not quite sure of the scale of the speeder bike- I think around 1/10 scale. I built this in 1994 and I am really not happy with the scout. Gloss white is so hard to weather or give it a texture  The scout's visor is way too thick at the edges, the snout is wrong and the lense is the wrong shape, as I'm sure any TB would inform me. I modified the arm pieces to make them alittle more accurate. Every time I finish a build I look at at least a dozen things that I would do differently if I were to do it again. :glare: http://i621.photobucket.com/albums/tt294/22hamish/100_1132copy.jpg">http://i621.photobucket.com/albums/tt294/22hamish/100_1133copy.jpg">

OK, I've uploaded a few pics to my photobucket account here.
As is plainly obvious, I'm not a good photographer!

The Y-Wing still meeds a bit of weathering on the vanes & nozzles.
The Rancor was bulit around 10 years ago and filled with expanding foam called 'Mountains In Minutes'. Mostly used for railroading set ups, this two part epoxy is lightweight and sets rockhard very quickly. I got it on-line from the USA. Awesome for vinyl kits.

WO! That Y-Wing is sweet! Did you use the decals on the engines or did you paint on the blue? There are options for 3 different ships' markings in the kit.

Why not? They are obviously 'on the bench' waiting to be restored!? I am assuming that this thread is for showing off your projects & sharing knowledge/ tips & resources.
