It's a cool model, huh?
You really need to get the Y-Wing though (if you haven't already).
Sure, it's a rebel ship, but it's an awesome build & very detailed.
I have a Snap-Kit TIE interceptor from Revell which I picked up at a newsagents in Dusseldorf airport for around $10.00AUD. It's a slightly smaller scale but impressively detailed.
Ya know, we really need a 'model section' on these forums...

Don't give me an excuse to go on a model building frenzy.............................
Will tell the wife it is your fault.
B, apparently there is a Finemolds Tie Bomber out there too - but no luck tracking it down so far. I saw a professionally made Y-wing too, it looked awesome.

AFAIK, the only 1/72nd scale kit of a TIE Bomber is from Fantastic Plastic and I've heard varying reports about the quality of their kits - lots of pinholes and flash etc.
But hey, you never know - they may come out with one in future. After they release the hideously overdue Snowspeeder that is...
Cheers,
b

What? a 1/72 snowspeeder form finemolds? Sweeeeet! That would be a very tiny kit! They had better then release an AT-AT+ AT-ST combo with an TESB/ROTJ turret option for the AT-ST.
Those decals for the TIE kits are tiny!!

GIven that the instructions for building are Japanese maybe I was wrongly assuming that the pic of the 3 Tie's together.............Tie, Interceptor and Bomber meant there was a kit for each. Never assume I suppose  .......especially if you are looking at Japanese.
By the way nice thread put together...........couldn't have done it any better myself. :)

Will be a fine kit, as per FM standards. The live mock-ups for TESB were quite small and they had a deeper 'bath' in the cockpit to house the pilots- which is evident in the lift-off shot from TESB. This gives it a much deeper 'belly' than the miniatures used in the film. The miniatures have a much shallower cockpit- making it difficult to actually house the correct scale/proportioned pilots as a result. I wonder how FM will address this.

I could have spent a small fortune there today.
If you are doing a space diorama, I also found these babies........Death Star Surface

These larger TIE's from AMT were a triumph at the time(late 1990's just before the special editions release)- a pair in a 'diorama' display. they are approx. 1/50 scale. Discontinued unfortunately. I really thought that AMT were going to breathe new life into the SW saga models.(sigh)I painted them in a slightly darker blue than the TESB/ROTJ colour scheme. The TIE interceptor is the original MPC snap kit with some minor detailing(originally built 1986 then repainted 1997).http://i621.photobucket.com/albums/tt294/22hamish/100_1136copy.jpg">http://i621.photobucket.com/albums/tt294/22hamish/100_1135copy.jpg">http://i621.photobucket.com/albums/tt294/22hamish/100_1129copy.jpg">

No front glass yet as I am waiting on some specially made decals for painting the frame on the glass to come from the US. I think all my models will be Finemolds from here on in............so easy to build with. B)

Basically, using a paper clip inserted into one corner of the foils, then into a base, you can get some crazy in-flight angles!
February 2007
They even use a FM TIE - typical!
P.s. If the link is dead, I do have a hard copy ;)
