Hey, I've been looking around things. At first I thought the matter of getting a stormtrooper uniform would be as simple as "find location, find size, buy" but to be honest, the more I search the more in depth I realise everything is and it is a little overwhelming at times trying to sort out exactly what I need to go through.

I'll admit I am practicaly completly new to this hobby and the whole community.

I was just wondering about the likelyhood of getting a mentor myself who could help me out. I live in the mid-eastern suburbs of Melbourne (whitheorse area to be precise) if that makes a difference.

hey mate- being a victorian, in knightfall squad countrymeans, bty default you alreadyhave at least 15-20 mentors!!!!! I'm sure i speak for us all when i say we are all glad to help!!

Being relativelynew mysel i have found everyone so helpful to the point where i was embarrassed by their kindness (oh how that changed though :))

From my experience:
1- Research the costume you want to do , then research some more, big picture stuff fdont get caught up in the detail .......yet. if it is stromtrooper you wanna do also go over an look at the whitearmor.net boards - the 501st official stormtrooper detachment site

2-contact grandmoff niko(EMAIL not pm) heis thegarrissons armorer and will be able to answer questions and finally hook you up with armor when ready

3-ASK - thats what these board are for!!!!

Learn from my mistakes:

1- dont buy stuff from ebay!!!
2-take it easy, and take trhings slowly
3-ASK

grungie is the latest approved storm trooper who built his ap in record time!!! so probably the freshest out there with storm trooper excperience

mate you will find this is an unreal community - the mateship is unbelievable - get yourself ou there and start - beware of the bug though - your first costume WILL NOT BE YOUR LAST!!!!!

cheers
amro

Follow Amro's advice George. Email Niko to get the lowdown on the best armour for you - price and size wise. Then once you've made the leap and you have a big box of plastic on your doorstep, put out a call and you will have no shortage of helpers to get it together for you.

Awesome! Thanks Badboy and Jason!
I sincerely doubt this would be my last costume, even before starting I could tell I'd be doing more stuff later on.

I was wondering Badboy, do you know if the Knightfall Squad meet up often? Or if theres other times when people around here all catch up?
Chances are seeing all the costs I'll probably end up having to build it very slowly haha. Obviously start with the head lol.

Keep your eyes and ears peeled for an armour party in Knightfalls' jurisdiction. They happen an a, roughly, monthly basis. Scienceworks is also a good central point to meet a few squad members(while it is still running the SWWSMI exhibit up to 8th Nov.). Hope to meet up with you soon.
